Example month — Difference and totals are live SUM formulas in the workbook.

How to use it

  1. Enter your budgeted amounts first — these are your targets for the month.
  2. As the month progresses, fill in the Actual column with what you really spent or received.
  3. The Difference column and the summary update automatically via SUM formulas.
  4. Rename or add rows to match your own categories; keep new rows inside the SUM ranges or extend the ranges.
